What is HypnoBirthing?
When having a baby with HypnoBirthing, what you will experience is a relaxed state similar to daydreaming or the focusing that occurs when you are engrossed in reading a book or starting a fire. You will be awake and in good spirits - totally relaxed and fully in control.

You will be aware of your bodys contractions but will be able to determine the extent to which you feel the uterine surges that help deliver your baby.

You will experience your babys birth in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, without fear and tension that cause pain. Your bodys natural anaesthesia (endorphins) will replace the stress hormones that create pain.

When it is time for your baby to be born you will be fully awake and involved.

What is Shiatsu Massage?

Shiatsu is a form of massage developed in Japan. The word shiatsu means the use of fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body to release muscular tension and promote circulation and healing. The shiatsu techniques work by balancing the bodys energy.

Shiatsu Massage and You

• Pregnancy massage integrates shiatsu techniques (a deeply relaxing form of pressure) with strokes and breathing. It is a comfortable therapeutic treatment, to nurture and prepare you for the months ahead.

• Shiatsu pregnancy massage is individually personalised to suit your needs, taking into consideration the stages of your pregnancy.

• This empowers you by making you aware of your changing body and your baby.

Did You Know?

• Our sensitivity to touch develops while we are still in the womb. Pregnancy massage is a special way for you to bond with your baby.

• Pregnancy massage helps you to be more relaxed, consequently your baby will also remain calm throughout labour and be more settled.

• Pregnancy massage stimulates the nerve endings in the babys skin through the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. This primes the babys senses.

• Pregnancy massage assists the baby to be in the optimal position for labour.

Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

• Helps treat the ailments of pregnancy, including morning sickness, sciatic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, back and neck pain.

• Provides techniques to assist in antenatal care, especially 2nd and 3rd trimester, labour and the postnatal period.

• Incorporates exercises and stretches, during pregnancy and to prepare you for birth. Teaches the use of a birthing ball.

• Presses trigger points to alleviate general discomfort and specific pregnancy symptoms.

• Stimulates the release of endorphins which act as a natural relaxant during pregnancy and labour.

• Incorporates induction techniques to initiate labour which can be used throughout the birthing experiance.

• Is effective as alternative pain relief during labour, combining shiatsu pressure techniques with strokes and breathing.

• Promotes an easier postnatal recovery.

• Teaches breathing techniques to prepare you for birth.
